Task 1:
Week 1 | The Pen Tool
In the first week, Mr. Hafiz introduced himself and outlined the module's
objectives for the next 14 weeks. He emphasized the importance of mastering
the 'pen tool' in Adobe Illustrator, which would be essential for our
assignments. We kicked off by playing 'The Bezier Game' to get familiar with
this tool.
During the week, Mr. Hafiz focused on the Visual Narrative and illustrations
module. He reminded us to update our contact information and provided links
for access to Adobe software. Joining a WhatsApp group was encouraged for
course updates.
In Google Classroom, Mr. Hafiz shared various links to aid our understanding
of the course material. The session ended with a motivation to participate
in the Bezier Game, helping us grasp the nuances of using pen tools in Adobe
Illustrator.

Week 2 | Vormator Shapes
In the second week, Mr. Hafiz introduced the Vormator Challenge, where we used
provided shapes to create unique characters. We followed specific rules for
this project, allowing actions like rotation, duplication, and combining
elements. We had creative freedom with color and additional effects. This
challenge pushed us to think creatively and use Adobe Illustrator effectively.

Week 3 | Light and Shadows
In week 3, we focused on Chiaroscuro techniques. We traced a pear using
Adobe Illustrator's Pen Tool, along with Pathfinder and Knife tools. We also
practiced shadowing a skull and integrating it with the pear. This week was
about honing our skills in lighting and shadow using Adobe Illustrator.

Week 4 | Colour and Blending mode
In week 4, we delved deeper into the realm of chiaroscuro, this time
applying it to portraiture. Instead of tracing a pear, as we did
previously, we tackled the intricate task of tracing a side-profile figure
of a man. Using the Pen and Pencil Tools, we meticulously outlined the
silhouette, initially working with simple shades of black and white. As we
progressed, we were granted the creative freedom to infuse the figure with
a diverse range of colors.
Following the tracing exercise, we ventured into the realm of blending
modes and clipping paths in Adobe Illustrator. These tools became
instrumental in refining our chiaroscuro designs. With Mr. Hafiz's
guidance, we explored techniques involving compound paths and clipping
masks to achieve the desired textured effect. This week's exercises
culminated in the creation of both a textured chiaroscuro and a standard
chiaroscuro portrait, showcasing our newfound proficiency in merging
light, shadow, and texture within our compositions.
